Brownville's Methodist Church is the oldest
Methodist Church in Nebraska still holding regular services.
Built in 1858 for the Congregationalists under the leadership of
Rev. T. W. Tipton, it was sold to the Methodists in 1861.

structure also served as the Brownville College with the Rev. Tipton
serving as the College President. Cost of education at the
Brownville College was $5 per series with each lecture costing about
12.5 cents.
