Indian Cave State ParkOpen to the Public, park permit required Located on the Nemaha / Richardson County line, the Nebraska Games and Parks Commission acquired this tract in 1962.
The park now covers some 3,000 acres, including 2,386 acres of timber. The Missouri River runs along the eastern edge of the park and offers beautiful nature scenes throughout the year. It is believed that Indian Cave has existed for several thousand years, a natural formation with ancient Indian pictures carved into the walls of the cave. The cultural origin and period in history remain a mystery. These relics are a fragile reminder of a previous time and age. Speaking of history, visit the reconstructed mid-19th Century river settlement known as St. Deroin, the first town site in Nemaha County. Amenities:
