Coryell Park

Located just three miles north of Highway 136 between Auburn and Johnson, this park offers picnic and banquet facilities as well as a museum, playground, and a chapel available for weddings and other ceremonies.  This unusual location is also where the Coryell Family Mausoleum is located.

Park History

Donated by Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Coryell, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Coryell, Jr., and Lorraine Leland Coryell in April 1934 so that the public could enjoy the park without cost.

The Coryells arrived in the area in 1867. This family like so many endured great hardships on the plains.  In 1934 the family  decided to convert the Coryell homestead into a free park.
